PAS NORMAL MECHANISM JERSEY
The fabric quality of the Pas Normal jersey is one of the finest sublimation qualities I have seen. It shines in a slightly luxurious way. On the front, classic lycra has been used, and the jersey utilizes highly breathable perforated fabrics on the collar, arms, and side- and back panels for low moisture absorption and quick-drying properties. The back is adorned with the Classic sublimated PNS font logo. The back is sewn in one piece so there are no stitches around the back of the shoulders. It gives an aesthetically clean look.
The pockets fit perfectly on the back. It is actually a difficult task to place the pockets right and gives them the right size for usability – Pas Normal has succeeded with that because the pockets can be reached easily but still feels firm and are placed high enough to avoid any sacking. It gives the back of the jersey a very elegant look when riding. To achieve this Pas Normal had to cut little heights of the pockets but it is only approx. 0,5-1 cm. that they are shorter than what is considered standard. The pockets stay firm on the back with minimal moving when you stand on the pedals.
The jersey is what I would call Race fit that means it sits tight and it has a tendency to be somehow tight over the stomach when you have stuffed the pockets well, but a ‘Race fit’ jersey’s pockets should never be stuffed too much, so for most rides, this jersey does the job with elegance. Only if you have to carry a lot of extras like arm warmers, legwarmers and a gilet I would choose other options.
PAS NORMAL MECHANISM BIB SHORTS
The bib shorts are constructed from 6 panels with their recognizable proprietary pattern in dyed lycra. On the back, the fabric panel on the lower back is made of a sublimated lycra with the inscription ‘Mechanism’
I am a little old school when it comes to bib shorts and therefore I prefer black bib shorts. Pas Normal has made these bib shorts in a color that lies between grey and blue and it is actually very tasteful. With the cobalt blue panel on the back that has a similar color as the jersey, it really looks great together. The designers from Pas Normal have a background from the fashion industry, so when it comes to the combination of colors they are very good. The only downside is that it is difficult to fit these bib shorts to any other jersey than the blue Pas Normal jersey. In my opinion, you will have to choose something completely white or black or a combination of black and white.
The chamois is of great quality. It is well-positioned in the shorts and very comfortable in use. On the side of the legs, you find the PNS logo in white rubber print and the leg finish with a 4 cm. elastic band in a sublimated fabric with a silicon gripping pattern on the inside. The length of the legs is perfect and the compression of the shorts is very good.
As a modern statement, the Pas Normal socks are very long. The shape is great and the compression ditto. They are made of a fine weave why I consider them perfect for hotter weather. Chose them if you want to have some quality summer socks in a minimalistic design.
In general, you should notice that the Pas Normal’s size’s for Jersey’s and bib shorts is smaller than usual so you probably have to consider a size up compared to most other brands.
Pros: Minimalistic elegant Scandinavian design. Nice fabric quality. Super race fit.
Cons: Not first choice if you need to stuff a lot in pockets. Like everything else from Pas Normal, the price is high.
I rate James as one of the best cycling photographers in today’s world. He lives in the beautiful City of Paris and works for Peloton Magazine. I have been lucky to work with him in Sicily. Here you can get an insight into how he sees cycling photography at the highest level.
